Amen to that auto. Biking is the way to go! I really love your red cruiser. It is an excellent bicycle and i hope some time to find me a nicly worn and rusted specimen to ride around.
As much as i admire the automobile, I must say that the time has come for some sort of revelution. America could have started researching altrenative fuels a long time ago and still seems to be slacking now. The consumption of fosil fuels should be reduced to a bare minimum and more alternatives like electricity or hydrogen or even corn oil should definately be put into use. I love muscle cars and old style kustoms.... but they have there place. Somthing needs to be done

Re: Fuel Prices.
Good thing I ride my bike still.
I wish they had swiched to turbine engines. If my research is correct, they can run on a wide variety of fuels without any need for adjustments. Chrysler once tried making turbine powered cars.

Re: Fuel Prices.
Thanks Vermilionvirus, shes a smooth ride! Id like to find something even older though, I want to get something from the late 40s.. tank frame heavy as fuck crush anything in its path and coated in rust, but its not easy.. someday though.
As for fuel.. they had the technology to replace gas engined cars for who knows how long now, they never go for it cause so much money would be lost in the process, they wont stop using fuel until its basically forced when the planet starts becoming way too screwed up to even operate anymore. Not that I'd really care all that much, although maybe I should, but I dont think it matters. I'll feel sorry for the hapless kids of the future who will have to live in that cause all these horny people cant seem to stop reproducing!
They also stopped making any descent looking cars sometime in the 70s (although there are a few nice 80s ones too) but I can care less about cars now because of that - they're just so hideous looking I dont know how anyone would actually pay all that money for one, and all the money that comes along with it!

Re: Fuel Prices.
As for turbine cars, the Chrysler Gas Turbine was a SEVERE failure, they had very bad fuel comsumpsions, (12MPG according to one of my car books), and the inside of the car used to heat up incredibly due to the engine. Only 50 I believe were built. Rover also built alot of turbine cars, but I think they were failures aswell.

Re: Fuel Prices.
Well, I just thought of this right now, one way to dramatically reduce fuel consumption is to mix the fuel with pure oxygen. Since pure oxygen burns REAL well, only a very small amount of petrol/diesel would be needed to cause a good explosion inside the piston chamber, and in-turn returning good MPG's. Although the filtering of the oxygen would be expensive, and extra tanks would be needed to store the oxygen in the car. Well, only a thought.

However, if you go into the rural countryside of Ireland, some petrol stations charge up to €1.20 per litre.

Gas prices are a bit lower than the last time I checked - 104.9 cents a litre. I heard Newfoundland have gas prices as high as 111 cents a litre!

Re: Fuel Prices.
Yeah, I haven't been paying much attention to it lately, but the last time I noted it, it was at $1.08, so I wouldn't be suprised if it was that high.
Incidentally, I rode into a gas station last night for a can of coke (bike fuel..sorta...ok not) that costed me a whole dollar! what a world!

Yeah well, here in Quebec a can of soft drink costs a dollar too. A dollar for a can is a little too expensive...

Is that in Canadian currency? The 355ml cans right?
Answer my question then we can get back to talking about gas prices.

Well cola is sorta like fuel, fuel for people, like me.
Most corner stores/gas stations ect will sell a can for a buck in Canada, and I guess in America its 50 cents. You can find them here for 50 cents if you're lucky from vending machines by grocery stores or inside some department stores and such, or get 2 cans for 1.15 from dollar stores.

Re: Fuel Prices.
Wal-Mart sells their generic brand coke for $0.25-$0.35 a can. Although I usually stay away from that stuff and go for brand name stuff like Coke and Pepsi. The cheapest I find from a vending machine is $0.65 a can.

Re: Fuel Prices.
I was out and it's at 99.9 cents here in southern Saskatchewan.
On the turbine engine(sorry I didn't notice your message sooner, Bollocks), Chrysler was getting close. They managed to get up to 22 mpg. They still had a problem at low speeds & idle, due to the high rpm, but was being worked out. It did get hot, but dunno about it and the cabin.
The 50 cars built weren't production cars, but rather ones used for a customer reaction tour, were they gave them to average people to drive for a while and would give a report on what they thought.
You can get more info from here.

Re: Fuel Prices.
That reminds me.... Up at the city I was at(Moose Jaw), they had this price war between gas stations.
It all started when Safeway opened up a gas staion and you would get 3 cents off with your Safeway card. Then everyone else did it and still are. At the Walmart station, you can get somethin like 5.4 cents off with the Wallmart Shopping card.

Re: Fuel Prices.
walmart and safeway have gas stations? wow. whats the world coming to.. I've seen worse, in mattawa, there is a gas station triangle .. 2 next to each other, and another on the other side of the street, you couldnt cut the tension with a knife lol

Re: Fuel Prices.
Yeah, I was surprised when I saw a gas station at Safeway in Reno. Wal-Mart doesn't have a gas station. I believe they sell them at Sam's Club (which is basically the Wal-Mart equivalent of Costco).
Re: Fuel Prices.
Reno eh? That's a sweet place to be last time I was there about a month ago the pool water .. unheated .. was warmer than outside!
