Re: bmp. to gif. or jpg ?
That can be done with basically every graphic/image program, e.g. Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, PhotoImpact... unless it's crappy stuff like Windows' Paint
If u haven't got one of those programs you can download free shareware versions of them or other freeware, just search the internet!
If you finally got one, just open the bmp file and save it as a gif or jpg or whatever.

heh see attachment MCF
so in answer, if you're in windows xp, just goto start menu > run > type mspaint and press enter.
Open your bitmap, and goto file > save as, and change the type (illustrated on the attached picture with the second arrow) to JPEG.
Although I'd highly recommend a better image editing application to properly resize images and things, this was just a 'because' post

I use a nifty little proggie named Irfanview. It's small, it's efficient, and it's free. Nothing better.

The last time i used Paint, it was definitly a version that had no .jpg-export!
Didn't know the XP-edition got that...
(I don't use XP and neither MS Paint, so i hope i'm excused )
So if that's the case, listen to what Matt says
