Here: www.eircom.ie but I think you need a internet account with them.

www.geocities.com are also good for it.

Are you looking for space for your own site, or just for your files?

Well, the one I use doesn't allow various files (basically, the fun ones), but for what I use it for, it's fine. Except for the ad it puts on my site.

www.thewritersblock.tk

You'll know the ad I'm talking about when you see it.

If your site is Carma-related, you'll probably be hosting Zip files, right? Mine doesn't allow those. Or MP3 files. Or WAV files, I think. I don't know, check it out. It's 20mb of storage space for free. That's getting hard to find. And, it has a fast server. I hate Freewebs because it was so goddamn slow.

www.brinkster.com

The first thing you see may discourage you from it, but click "Start Here" on either of the plans. Then you'll see their free plan. You can probably imagine why they don't put much emphasis on the plan that gets them no profit whatsoever.

Free web hosting is utter garbage - not to mention totally unreliable, the only good go's as crappy as they are... are places like geocities, or angelfire - they will be around forever.

A lot of other places offer free web space and vanish without a trace a few months later, or have stupid restrictions such as no FTP access, file size limits, file type restrictions, low bandwhich issues, and not to mention ugly ads all over the pages.

Like AP said above, complete shit, also 2 mention that most sites that offer free acces, are for personal Profile pages, File-Size limit, usually 2 small 2 create any sort of download, also should mention that with file sizelimits of 300-500kb it really makes it hard 2 distribute warez on there servers, meaning warez spreaders usually stay away from them sites, also file type rescitions, they usually include filetype such as, .mp3, .rar, somtimes .zip, .ace ect, File Achives r blocked allot by sites that are all about Personal Profiles, or 1s that don't offer downloads from there servers

Not True! mines free, & its the greatest server ever !! the server guys are excellent with support too  (thanks boose / elendal)

Anyhow, not everyone is able to get freebie space like me, but dont wanna paid for space, so I highly recommend (like above) www.netfirms.com, I started there, until my site was getting to many hits, they took it off, apart from that its highly reliable for a free service (25MB) isnt that bad

Give your zip files a different extension (maybe piz) and tell people to rename them once downloaded. I remember doing that before at TSS back when I was on free webspace.

Nope. That won't work, 'cuz they're paranoid, and scan each file for anything resembling any file they don't allow. If you upload it and they find it's similar to a Zip file, they won't let you upload it. But I think he found what he's going to use anyway.
