Apple Dock for Windows!
Well, I found it. And it kicks ass. It's called Object Dock. A quick search on google will find it.

Re: Apple Dock for Windows!
I don't know why anyone would want to use a highly visible, hidable dock at the top of thier screen....
Um... I have been using that type of dock for years. Save it has always been a toolbar extension in Explorer. This one allows a more OS X feel to windows. Which to me is great.
Why use this??? Well that one is simple. Imagine having a collapsable bar at the top of your screen... you move your mouse to it... it has all your hard drives on it, all the programs you run constantly. Even shows you the current time, date and weather. Imagine not having to click on the start menu. and going through all the all programs crap to find a specific program. It's there... you put it there. On top of that, you get a cute icon that you want for the program you want. No more little crappy icons. Those icons have ot be small to give you some room on your desktop. Speaking of desktop... How many of us simply put the Carmageddon Icon on our desktop, cos we play it... Well that takes up space you could use for other things. Like a cool background.
All in all... I use this type of bar, as a quick launch bar... cos Window's stupid start menu get's very full, very quick. Why bother with everything else when you just want 1 program.
AND!!!! There is a feature on this that forces it to the top of the stack. Sometimes in windows, using a top side toolbar, would get lost behind a program. That sucks.. very much so.
Either way... if you guys want them... there is some Carmageddon Crystalized Icons up on LOD for you to download to use with Object Dock... and Windows XP.

Re: Apple Dock for Windows!
I so second that. I used to pile all icons to the dock containing the Start-button (in Win98), with several toolbars. Now I've divided them to all the 4 edges of the screen, using auto-hide, it's handy! Like, I have music in the top, game stuff on the right (full-versions, demo-versions, game tools), more programs in the bottom edge in a nice clean row, and the rest under the Start-button on the left edge. Luv it!

I just use the Office shortcut bar......my 50 most used apps fit in just 2 toolbars.
It's small enough and looks like explorer....

Re: Apple Dock for Windows!
You're all weird
1) It looks grotesque.
2) There's nothing wrong with the start menu, assuming it's all layed out properly... all you really need is "Accessories" and "Games", that's all ... none of this "Programs->Macromedia->animation->flash", "programs->Adobe->Adobe CS->art->photoshop" crap
3) Icons on a desktop?! Are you mad? All you ever need to put on the desktop is maybe a link to your hard drive, cd and floppy, (and my computer) - that's all... and then a file of something you're working on, perhaps.
4) The docking bar on the toolbar is great for anything else you use regularly. "Show Desktop" - "IE" - "mIRC" - "ICQ" and "Music"... Carma2 is obviously under programs->games, cared is under programs->accessories... and so on
Perfection.
Conclusion: That looks bulky, crap, ugly, kiddified (Exactly like XP in it's default mode) and is totally un-needed.
Rant over

Re: Apple Dock for Windows!
in it's initial mode, the icons are 48 pixels in width. What I have displayed is more like 100 pixels, with a 190 pixel height. My final is 48 pixel min and 190 pixel max.
When I put a mouse directly over an icon, it expands up to 190 pixels. ones beside is are roughly 1/2 the size.
If you do not resize anything, then it is a 48x48 task bar with something like 100 pixel growth. You can then turn the growth off, and make it a simple 48x48 taskbar. Which is standard size for icons on the desktop... and it hides its self. It all could be done with a tool bar... which of course is windows ugly, and has absoloutly no style to it. On top, you get a weather and time strip in it.
I would agree with you about the start menu if you only have a few things that you need to put on the bar. Until you want have more programs that you need to run besides that. Photoshop, Max, Outlook, Excel, Dreamweaver, Flash, Word, Blah blah blah. Then you have games....
Yep a bit more... on the top of my screen is a tool bar, that holds quick links to my hard drives and cd drives, as well as programs I want to "hide" from the boss. As well, I just so happen to be a Mac Computer tech, which means I am pretty used to a big, bold bar at the bottom of the screen. Funny, this looks exactly like what this program does. The Mac bar doesn't do everything, but it does do alot. As well, it is very easy to manipulate like this one is. It is the heart and soul of OS X.
I am not trying to convert anyone, just simply state that the bar has enough settings to overcome just about everything that you are putting it down for.

Well put BLOD. (lol)
Re: Apple Dock for Windows!
Im with Random on this one. I bet that in the readme file (if there is any) they say, that it doesnt take up a lot of memory. Besides, I'll click 10 times getting straight to C2, before the bar popups
Re: Apple Dock for Windows!
Hmm... I used to put all my frequently-used prog icons in a separate folder on ma desktop-Now I just leave 'em on ma desktop all over the place. I don't need no fancy wallpaper-the shit just eats memory anyways. I just use the default windows color w/no paper. (I'm temporarily stuck at 128MB-why waste more with a 1152x864 image?).
I want the stuff I use right in fronta me when I start ma comp... T'hell with what it looks like.

I just save them as JPEGs and use them as wallpaper. It uses a lot less memory that way. And it doesn't look that much worse anyway.

Yeah? Righteous. How long would I hafta wait for it all to run out?

We could use hi-power vacuuming equipment to speed up the process if need be.
