help me fix my Fin comp

does anyone know how i can solve this problem..?

when i go to open 'my computer' or any folder on my cdrive that god damn search for files or folders thing opens up instead of just displaying contents of cdrive like its supposed to.. this happens on my computer every now and then and I dont know how to fucking fix it, its pissing me off, usually i just reformat my whole god damn worthless computer and start over again but im sick of doing that, i already did that this week!

WinXP fucks too, but WinME sucks more! If wanna play older games, like C2 or NFS4 HS I prefer Win98, cuz they don't need 100 tricks and install 374598 patchesto play on WinXp or 2000! Greetz, nWo4life

Yeah, as opposed to the 2 patches necessary to fix 98, which is a real stable OS........

This type of info isn't too hard to find....C2 runs just fine on w2000....just remember that some old games are doing things w/ regard to memory management that NT based OSes just won't tolerate.



Time to buy a separate HD to run older windows versions?

Hmmz... I can't play C2 on WinXp Por without some kind of a patch, and with my Steering wheel plugged. And I still don't got NFS4 working on it. I know there is a trick for it, but I still didn't found one. And grand prix world doesn't work too. And I had a few more games wich didn't work on XP.

Win98 (1 relise)HAS some enourmus advantages ower Win2k and Xp,me and whatever they are named.... BUT those advantages are not discoverd when you just play whit the computer... they are quite advanced to discover alredy!!!



Win98 (2relise)HAS the same advantages as the first relise... BUT its mutch more stable

as some would say that WIN98 is unstable as hell... i DONT agree... My computer uses as a standard OS Win98... and it works Fine... it dosnt crash that unnecesairly mutch... ususaly like one time a day... while i use WIN2k... mutch more problems... like 2 per hour

ME... the times i used it... it woudnt start on my comp... BUT for some it works fine, while for other it wont start

WIN2k... mutch more stability than on Win98, but then it has some things missing tho

ME... in my oppinion... Slow compared to Win98... has some advantages... but i think it has some unnecesairy things included... that after a while can get anyone to get nuts



What i would do... Install Win98 and Win2k or WinXP... thats what i have done.... NOW if a prog or game dosnt work in one OS then switch it to another where it does work

Now please shutup whit this stupid WHICH OS is the best... all the os systems are better than the other on something... and that INCLUDES linux... as its by far the best network server... but hel not a gaming OS

I agree at least 100% with you! I know that XP is a little bit more stable as Win98. But 98 Has the advantage, that there are a lot of games 98-compatible. Every game that was released b4 Win2000 was, cannot be XP-compatible (at least you must have a patch or some other shit). But I heard from somebody who had 98 and XP on one PC, that 98 is f*cked up when you put those together. I dunno if that is true .

A clean w98 install is indeed quite stable, as long as you don't do too many things w/ the system, besides stable, well-behaved apps(you can run a small server w/o much problems). Do anything intensive(some games, CAD progs...etc) and problems start popping up. W9x has NO security whatsoever, NO serious memory management, it's really DOS+Win32 extensions. I used to reboot 2-4 times a day when I used 98(from clean installs!). Now, I can leave w2k on for weeks on end w/o having to reboot.....btw, C2 used to cause memory leaks in 98: I had to reboot after running it twice!

Aside from tolerating direct hardware access, which allows a programmer to use nifty little tricks to optimise stuff, I fail to see ANY real advantage to 98 over 2k/XP(aside from the fact that old games run on it more easily.....!)....could you be more specific, Kruzschev?
