Diesel power...

Post by M®. £üñ¢hßØx »

Prodigy kicks ass.

Anyway, anyone know where I can find a good sound effect of a diesel engine starting or revving up? 'Cuz that'd rock. I have a new video idea, and I need some diesel engine sounds for it... anyone able to give me a hand? Thanks.

Back to the portable recording thing are we? I'd love to help out, but... y'know, having no mean to record the engine tone doesn't help.

BTW, we're talking Volvo 440 ('88) 1.9L TDI here. Hehe...

I'll see if I can h4x0r myself a record0ring device...

Do a search for train or big rig/wrecker sound recordings. I found a shit load of them a while back, and I'm sure they're still around today.

Heya, 'Dogx2-what you need is the sound of a Detroit Diesel Turbo DT366 (366 CID inline six) cold-starting and revving to stabilize the idle.

Heheh.. Just so happens I drive one bright and early every morning.

Lemme see if I can track down my tape recorder-I just hope it'll sound right 'cause the DT makes a hella noise starting up cold-you'll get LOUD, like there's no oil in the motor clankety diesel sound with a goodly exhaust note and the initial turbo scream and cooling fan clutch lockup whine on the first rev and then stabilizing at a kinda galloping idle.

If that's what ya want-gimme couple days to get it and turn it into a .wav file.

We also got the lighter Chevy V8 diesels in our vans-they don't sound as impressive as the DT's tho.

Need air brake noise? Got that too. Air horn? Yup.

Only thing I can't get ya is a Jake brake.
