Fallout's Chryslus Corvega [+ other releases]
Hello,
I was hesitating to post it already or wait for the C2 item to be finished.
Decided to show a bit of it :)
I must say it looks much better ingame.
I tried to setup a crush data for the very front based on three vertex indexes.
It deforms a bit but it's rather shy.
We'd definitely need some kind of generator for this, manual setup is a mindfuck.
And a simple render of the rear just for fun:
The C2 item will be more detailed, closer to the Fallout 3 model.
I simplified the model a lot for C1 and got rid of most textures :)
The C1 item is ready and the C2 item should take less time to get ingame.
I'll release both when the C2 one is done as well.

Re: Fallout's Chryslus Corvega
Wow, I only played a tiny bit of FallOut so never even saw the car. But that really looks cool ingame on C1.
Really nice render too. The wheelbase doesn't look as long in the game screen. I guess it's just the perspective and foreshortening.
Nice to see some new stuff from you.

That's frickin' cool! Never played Fallout but /me likes it anyway. New C1 stuff rocks.

damn this freaky nuclear-powered vehicle looks good indeed! i'd prefer to see it more rusty though, but it's amazing as it is too

Yes, the vehicle is really long, it's great to mow down peds.
Hazardic: the C1 is using env loc materials, but the C2 one will be mapped. Should be fairly easy to rust it up.

Wow tosh, that looks awesome! You know, with those colors it reminds me a bit of 'The Car', from the 1977 movie. At least the front end. Different car, but similar look and attitude ;)
I'm curious to see how the c2 model will look like, with the extra detail and what not.

Re: Fallout's Chryslus Corvega
Heheh you're right. Actually Chevelle made a version of 'The Car' for C2 a long while back...

Re: Fallout's Chryslus Corvega
Ha I was almost going to suggest that "The Car" would be a good C1 conversion. Cool!

Re: Fallout's Chryslus Corvega [+ other releases]
Ok friends, it's RELEASE time!
So first the Chryslus Corvega from Fallout 3:
For Carmageddon 1
Nothing to add from the first post.
For Carmageddon 2
This is what delayed this release. The original mesh really is NOT made for the same kind of engine as C2. Had a lot of problems all the way till the end. The C1 version was stripped down, simplified and remapped so it was all easy but here I wanted to keep the original mapping and textures. Also the polycount is quite high for such a low amount of detail (~12,000 tris), so I wouldn't consider it a top quality item at all. Though it does look good and handle quite well ingame IMO. Comes with 5 different colors. Driver by Econo again, yes I'm lazy when it comes to that.
Back to Carmageddon 1 with The Car:
Once again nothing to add really. Coffeycup you might want to ask Chevelle about this port if you have his email address. Don't hesitate to host it at MacCarpoc too if you want.
BTW CarmaSimpson made a darker skin for this car. He made it for C2 but you can obviously import the textures into C1 with little effort.
The Will Smith Mobile:
Yup, here it is. Maxine's Will Mobile. One of the most hilarious Carma addons from these last 10 years IMO. I remade the textures to adapt to the C1 palette. Set the suspensions back up etc. I find this very funny. FUNNY. Physics are adapted too.
With this addon I also tried something special with the actors. Original C1 cars often have a single wheel model which is instanced four times via actors to place the wheels. They are most of the time symmetric so it's not a problem to translate them. But here the wheels weren't symmetric and I didn't want to apply a 180° on the front left actor, I wanted to mirror it. Nothing in PT1 or PT2 allows you to apply a mirror operation to an actor on a specific axis. Could be simply a -1 scale operation on the X axis but no. Luckily Harm's script support it. So I also applied the mirroring to the front left suspension part. It became problematic when I applied the grooves on these actors because doing so actually resets the mirroring! I could use a dummy to apply the groove on the wheel anyway but not for the suspension: the shear groove requires the actor to have a model to be applied or else the game will crash. So I thought "Ok! let's apply the groove on the susp actor, and mirror a dummy above said actor!". It all turned into a huge mindfuck. Things didn't react correctly at all. So yeah, don't try this at home.
BTW someone should make an Eddy Murphy skin for this car :)
And lastly, the Ice Drone:
I had already released this three years ago along with the green noncar car (this sentence only makes sense in a Carmageddon modding context) and the burned out noncar there. But it was all half-assed and barely working. Decided to remove the pack from RR and do the Ice Drone correctly. So here it is. Quite big. The hook is animated in cockpit view.
You guys can download everything at RR as usual :)
Ah yes: It's a kind of anniversary pack as RR turned 10 in june!
If you have some time, test these cars and report any crash :)

Re: Fallout's Chryslus Corvega [+ other releases]
Ha wow those look great! Am away on holiday will check when I get back. I'll check with Chevelle but sure he'll be fine.
Re: Fallout's Chryslus Corvega [+ other releases]
ahahaha ice drone is amazing lol. definitely will be in my game
and corvega for c1 is more preferable for me - it has so much details compared to other cars
anyway it's nice that c1 modding revived again
