Building the perfect beast

Post by AdR »

or more like the ultimate rice killer machine... in the form of a 1970 Plymouth Duster Image

Image

Of course, I just started it, so I would like to hear the opinion of those who knows about this stuff (ricers stay away!). I'm not so sure wich engine to use... I thought of the 340 at first, with a high rise intake and probably a 4-brl holley carb, wich is the most common setup for 340's I think... but what I'm not sure about is... should I go big block on this one? maybe a 426 max wedge or the almighty 440... i'm thinking of street legal, of course. Any suggestions?

nice duster, i would have made one eventually but looks like you got there first...on the engine i'd say leave a 340, but if you want a street killer i'd put a tunnel ram with 2 750 demons on there Mopar Muscle did a similar engine build-up a while ago with a tunnel rammed 340 and it made 600+hp, no Naws, no turbo... ain't no 4 gerbals gonna touch that without cheatin' no matter how fast they wanna spin it

440, complete with the stripe down the side ending with the 440 tag.

(lime green is the color i'd go with as well, complete with a flat black hood )

The 440 would be great in this car with the paint job to go with it!

LOL!! Thought no one will notice :P I always liked Don Henley's work, with or without the Eagles... "Boys of summer", best song ever, so many good memories... but back to the duster, that lime green, black hood, side stripes stock look sounds great, i'll keep that hood for the 440 version then. For the 340 i'll make a huge hood scoop for it, to fit the dual tunnel ram... with a custom graphics on the side and a nice paintjob... that should do it

thanks for the comments on it. I'm working on the chassis so i'll post more pics as soon as I have the time. Btw, that's not a texture, just a color... one version will feature the side stripes as CADster mentioned, the other will be red with custom graphics on the side (no, not FNF!).

SoupaVedg: yep, my email is working as usual.

Somebody's gotta find a good throbbing V-8 idle sound for this car and all of the other Mopar cars for C2; the stock engine sound doesn't cut it. Personally, I haven't had much success, but if anybody knows anyone with a good sounding V8 car, try and get a recording of it =)

Heheh.. Got one! Sounds kinda like the engine sound at the beginning and end of the ZZ top tune "Manic Mechanic". Nice V8 rumble.

I use it in place of the stock emgine sound in C1 and C2- I'll up it to TSS if you guys wanna check it out.

Well, as far as I'm concerned, both your cars kick absolute ass and I can't wait to bash with either of 'em. Good job, dudes.

new sound? I always tried to get one without having to make a lot of editing to get it right... I tried a couple of times but they turned out wrong somehow... anyway, DB, up it at TSS or send it to my email, I would like to hear that one Image

btw, here's the paintjob I have in mind for the duster...

What you could do is make a paint job of like, just a bunch of shirts and call it "Dirty Laundry." Or better yet, an awesome sunset scenery shot all over the car and call it "Sunset Grill." I mean, while you're still a Don Henley fan, at least.
