Re: Snowy Four Xmas track download
That's looking good overall, but I don't like the road texturing. Should have roadlines. I think you should rotate the concrete texture on the stands 90' too.
Re: Snowy Four Xmas track download
Hmmmm yea like everything else, but the road doesnt seem to line up right. For lack of a better sentence lol.
Looks fitting for the Carma way of gaming though.

Re: Snowy Four Xmas track download
Yeah, the road is a right mashup, the map is a tad small ingame, so I'm needing to resize it anyway, I'll do that in Sketchup and then fix the road texture.

Okay, so I've got the upcoming three weeks off College so I'll be picking this back up. I'll post more updates as I go along.

Re: Snowy Four Xmas track download
Sorry to bump such an old project but I've actually been working on a few things from this mod. (YES REALLY!!!!!!!!!)
Wow.. Anyway, I'm going to be releasing all of the cars in one big pack when I have time, also i'm going to be increasing the size of Leap Of Faith and getting that in game, because I worked hard on it (as with the other maps) and it's just sat there in its .SKP format doing nothing, I'll also be releasing the .SKP (maybe .3DS if you're lucky) formats of these maps.
So hang in there, this mod and Carmageddon isn't dead. :P
Also, I'm working on a new map, I was working on it for an untitled XNA indie project me and a friend were developing but that idea went down the shitter so I've decided to recycle the map for Carmageddon, it'll be large though as the game was going to be a top-down GTA clone for the Xbox Live Arcade market, also I've still got a lot of work to do on it.
So watch this space, whilst I get hold of the DDRAW files I've saved on a Rewritable DVD somewhere.
TTFN.

Good to see it's still going. Like Duke Nukem 3D, it'll get there in the end!

Re: DD RAW Mod
Replying to this because after 15 years, that mad genius Errol decided to tackle reverse engineering the Destruction Derby RAW file formats and we now have access to every single asset from the game, which means this mod is now in full swing again but properly this time! None of these half-arsed attempts at recreating tracks and cars from the game, we have the actual tracks from the game and the cars too!
I'm currently mainly documenting my progress on the Carmageddon Discord but feel I should necro this old thread to continue where I left off 15 years ago.
I'm currently in a state where all vehicles are in the game, all opponents are complete and functional, everything has detachables and bounding boxes. A few levels have been added to test the game out and the frontend and UI has been heavily edited to try and emulate the original game, everything is still very much WIP.
Below are some screenshots of the current progress of the mod:

Re: DD RAW Mod
More progress!
More tracks in and experimenting with opponent pathing to try and force them to race properly.

Re: DD RAW Mod
Getting more maps into the game and messing with opponent pathing to get them to take different routes around the maps.
There are multiple different path types we can use in C2, these path types are highlighted individually in opponent edit mode in C2 cheat exe, as below:
0 = regular path
1 = racing line
2 = cheat path
1000 = one-way regular path
1001 = one-way racing line
1002 = one-way cheat path
The yellow triangles on the one-way paths indicate the direction of travel along the path, using this knowledge and linking the nodes up allows opponents to decide which path they want to take and offers some variety to the usual driving a single path nonsense.

Re: DD RAW Mod
I've been working on finalising the car select menu today and I think I'm happy with the progress.
Here's the final C2 car select menu: Here's the car select menu from my Destruction Derby RAW T/C:
Let's take a closer look at how I acheived this. Firstly, we have a background which makes up the majority of elements on screen. As you can see, a small portion of the stat bars are a part of the background image alongside the bulk of the rest of the menu.
The remainder of the menu consists of carimage elements moved around the screen via data\INTRFACE\ccar.txt in a way that leads to a convincing car selection menu, below is my car selection menu if I selected a default C2 vehicle (bigdump in this case.)
Here is where the specific carimages are now placed:
And without the annotations:
"But what about carimageB?" I hear you ask! Well, that is being used on the main menu as a way of displaying which car you've chosen in an attempt to emulate how the original game displays your chosen vehicle in SMASH4$ mode, as below:
Here is how it looks in the original game: And finally, the whole lot in action!
All I need to do now is get that driver name text off screen and it's complete!

Re: DD RAW Mod
HOLY SHIT I LOVE THAT GAME ITS MY FAVORITE
Always wished there was a mod-able PC version.
It's just too bad that C2 didn't have better racing mechanics and more "moves and combos" you could do to opponents.
Thanks.

Thanks, both.
All race tracks are now in the game in a playable state, all vehicles are also in the game in a playable state (including the Assault Hummers,) everything needs polishing up properly now!
Lots of progess gifs below! May take a while for them to load!
