It sure does look professional indeed. Look's a bit like one of thoes old Need for speed tracks. And I think the treeline there is a great example that using textures that way does the job very well!

and those transition textures (half grass, half dirt) also make it look really good!

Finish it plz.

Ehm, I found the download link on your website Coffey, but after loading a minute or so it gives me an error; can't load lamp.txt located somewhere in the cruisemap folder...

Holy Jebus, it's hell of a size.

It took me 6 minutes and 17 seconds to load (i timed it)

great map though!

This is one of the best; if not, the best map i've ever played, it is a little too big and it has many unessesary curved roads, but i like it, FINISH IT C2S!!!!!!

I did try the HTA track, it took 15 minutes, then all i got was constant lag, even with 1 opponent it was just too laggy, even blood on the tracks lags for me, this map didn't lag however.

The only time it did was on the start grid, that was because of all of the custom cars.

I want this map finished though :P

I spent over and hour exploring this map, it was fun

looks diff from the last one I had 2.. i'd like to try it, aong with yr bus, but my hands busted.. hard to play c2 with just a left hand, along with doing anythinfg else in life. i think the game freezes like that has more to do with opponent paths/start/network/respawn/whatever else points over anything else..

Same about the releasing unfinished tracks.

but i think it fits with the custom cars, i think it's a great track for thrashing a car around even without peds it's fun.

Second version worked for me, and the track is indeed HUGE. I was stroling around at the place with all the stairscases and little monument stuff. Scary knowing you can fall off  But anyway, the track did crash for me! I was driving the (ridiculous) long tunnel to the right. Nearing the end it crashed.

And geez, I started the track with my old setting, yon at 300... Allmost every noncar was invisible, and they came back when I had my yon at 80.

But it looks good yeah, I like the transition textures, and like I said, the treeline is pritty good for this.

It took me about 5 min. I think to load it.

my c2 never crashed when i got to the end, i think some roads are too long and there are too many noncars, i hit a bunch of barrels and it lagged for 2 minutes, then the next buunch were just solid. o.o

Yaaarrr?

Y'all are bitchin' about roads too long?

I LOVE long roads. Enables ya to actually drive instead of just bouncing off of stuff.

That's what I liked so much about the C1 maps. Room to haul ass.

Beeyootiful map! Mighty goodly holes to avoid, but lotsa fun anyways.

Only problem I had was the game hung when I got lost tried to see where I was on the map.

Loading time was just a couple minutes.

Hope to see this one finished soon!

No map? You mean the map image file? There is... it's the MapImage.tif inside TiffRGB-folder, which the game will convert into MapImage.pix, which is the file referred to in the map image section in Cruisemap.txt.

To be sure, I just tested this by deleting the MapImage.pix inside the Pix16-folder, and then starting the track in-game - the minimap and big map worked properly.

Hehehe, no problem.

Not sure how to fix DB's hanging problem, though - map screen works fine for me.

Ah, I know what caused it-I think... I drove off the map while in map mode-through one of the myriad "holes" in the track and caused the game to hang, which would have prolly happened whether I was in map view or not-map doesn't show the holes.

At last !

I've been able to try this marvellous map !

It's excellent !

This map really desserves its name !

It's a real pleasure to cruise in it !

smooth curves, huge road to visit ... too bad, it's not finished. But I guess it has been an enormous load of work to do this fine stuff ...

Random post!

I found some old renders of Cruisemap, I think no one ever saw these expanded areas.

Large map image
Isometric view

I can try to explain some parts, if anyone is interested.

That render over a cloudy sky kinda reminds me of the Splat Pack MagnaChem Environmental Disaster levels (Surreal Think etc)! :slol:

That's correct, it was supposed to be small island for a large airport (in the middle of nowhere). Though the shape also made me think that I could make it a combined airport / starport; there would have been some kind of large portal structure in the middle, with special visual effects and various spaceship drones hovering around.

I could have just used the C2 flying saucer as a placeholder for those. :-)

Boy that track was/is huge. I remember being extremely impressed by it when I first drove it back in the day.
Did you build all of it in 3ds max?
It's a shame c2 cannot handle larger tracks and files and that we are limited to the 1998 rendering standards. I would love to expand the game with so much more. I'm sometimes surprised that I still find it such a great game to mess and play with!

Cruisemap was built entirely in max, yes.
It's a shame c2 cannot handle larger tracks and files and that we are limited to the 1998 rendering standards.
True, but now with the more recent knowledge of ours, it would be possible to at least improve the load times somewhat, by making use of modular pieces (where applicable).
