Hyperthreading CPU's are (physically) single CPU's which 'pretend' to be 2. It tells Windows that it has 2 CPU's available, allowing the operating system to schedule two threads or processes simultaneously. Intel introduced those processors in their Pentium 4 3.044 MHz chips.

Anyhow, we should see a C2O release tonight, actually..!

http://carmageddon.kicks-ass.net/mom/fu ... %20waiting...

It has actually been a long time since I was so pumped up for a release, the last time I was really looking forward to a release it must have been Puma's Eraser Mk2. Nah, that doesn't actually come close to C2O. Puma, you stink.

Hi guys,

Propper size is around 22mb to confirm. I'll get all the required info up as soon as possible, there is also another small download that people will need (a starting grid file pack). I should be able to get that completed and uploaded tommorrow - right now i'm shattered.

Might even be a program update available tomorrow if theres time... inc. further bug fixes for master server list and racing mode, and the inclusion of "overall standings". It will all be on the forum.

ROFLMAO at c2 ped pic above^

Ok a couple of things i can point out for you tonight perhaps. Firstly, the retail CD of C2 will have added the registry entries but if it is a rip from the internet it might not have. Even if it has, it might not be the same as the retail would have added.

C2O looks for the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SCi\Carmageddon2

...and at the key: ExecutableLocation

It must contain the path to your C2 folder such as: C:\Program Files\Interplay\Carmageddon 2 Carpocalypse Now

The C2 Installer looks at this key, but the C2O-Config program also does. If C2O has installed new files into your C2 folder, then the installer part was successful. If C2O complains after this it is most likely that the C2O-Config did not run, or failed - or your C2 is not a clean install.

Your C2O executable path could not be found in the Windows Registry.

It is possible that the problem is down to registry permissions. If a repack is required for this i'll make sure everyone is informed tomorrow.

It's advisable to wait until usage information has been posted...

That sounds like a wise idea. The package could just include a base pack of maps and cars to keep the file size down and insure that there's no discrepancies between tweaked cars and maps.

I know the suggestion to start with a clean install will serve the same purpose, but I also know there will be a fair number of people without Carma CDs will be asking "D0o0o0dZZZ, wHeRe CuN I dOwNlOaD cArMa 2 fOr FrEe???"

Well, looks like the C2O installation will create much troubles for everyone...

Wouldn't it be better if you actually bundled C2O with a C2O-ready C2 ? Just like I did with Carma-Life2.

This way, people would end up with a C2O dedicated installation and could keep their original installation safe. Also the SOD people could prepare a SOD special version of this bundle pack, as well as Rax-X with C2Adv. I think it'd be easier than trying to struggle with the game version and the registry.

Ofcourse it'd be somewhat illegal, but nobody really cares, you'd just have to avoid making too much noise about the fact C2 is included~

And this way you could end up with one simple installer without packs'n'fixes, and a ready2play C2O.

Well, I got a little further with it now.

IE: far enough to join a server...but when the game's supposed to start, i get the beloved "Opponent.txt mismatches actual number of opponents" error for some unknown / retarded reason.

On his forum, James mentions it's possible to set it up for LAN games...of course, he doesn't bother mentioning how it's actually done.

I'd be satisfied enough if I even knew that much. and I don't mean the old serial link method, either.

Oh, aaaaand the server is down again.
