The Leveller

Post by neitron »

I have been making a vehicle for some time. It's called The Leveller... and it's actually kinda bizzare . Shame i can't post the images right now 'cause my comopter is invaded with viruses :mad:and CarEd shut down :mad:so I hope to get that fixed in some time.

About the vechicle: it has caterpillers and it's veeeeery enormous  I'm actually thinking if it can be socked into the game in it's original size

Wow! That is monstrous. How many polys is that?

Though I like the spikes on the treads, those will never be able to move.

You might want to remove them and animate the treads using textures like Tosh did with the CWA Monster

just one question regarding scale...

is that one driver viewport with vertical bars for protection and peg grabbing claws?

Or is that multiple driver windshields with car grabbing claws?

Looks freakin wicked either way.
If it runs, drives, stops, has a title, AND is under $300, I'll take it!

Well, the first variant is right. That should clearify the situation:

Image

And about the model itself... I took the idea of a disney cartoon 'Fern Gully'(1992). Damn, i used to realy like it when i was small. So, there was this machine for cutting trees. It cut off the tree, then grab it with the claws and take it directly to the 'stomack' in which the wood is refined into accurate plain plates. Kinda cool mechanism

I think it can easily be reoriented on ped grabbing and refinig

Sorry, I forgot to bridge the cultural gaps.

how about:

that thing affects the tides?

That's no moon, its the Leveller?

it makes the T-90S look like a T-pot?

If it runs, drives, stops, has a title, AND is under $300, I'll take it!

This is the coolest thing ever.

I watched that Ferngully Movie when I was a kid and I thought this thing was awesome on spiked tracks. How's work going on it?

Yeah, I wonder what's going on with it too. That has got to be the most ambitious first car ever. Most people's first car is a brick with 4 wheels!

CarEd still works on your computer? Can you check how many triangles that thing has?

By the way, did you model everything in CarEd?

How can I check the amount of triangles? I only can tell about points, as I can select it all

So, from that state you see on the pics it has circa 13400 of these freaking things

But now I'm going to remove those spikes on the threads as Cofeycup advised, as I want treads to move so the model is going to be a bit less complicated:oops:

Looks like its time to start texturing more the thing, no? Will there be any sort of sprocket wheels, I only see flat areas?

Now, for some reason I thought that this was based on a cartoon show. Some villian's vehicle on Nickelodeon network that chewed up the rain forest? Or was that someone else? (Damn, I wish these few remaining brain cells would stop blinking out.)

I've changed cab design (to as authentic as possible) and deleted all spikes from the threads. a little texture on it (that I don't like indeed and change when can make screens). all changes so far

coffeycup - more textures will come as I manage to get sreenshots on my comp. I want it to be authentic)

there will be 3 or 4 sprockets with a massive block linkin' them.

here's the inspiration source . Like that a lot in my kid years)
