Sort of a Victorian Steam Carriage, but not done yet.

Neat-Os!

Is it suppose to be based on a steam car or steam train? It looks like a train, but I know some early motor vehicles didn't look like typical automobiles.

I'm just making it up as I go along, but I'm looking at pictures of old trains , steam tractors, steam boats.

It's supposed to be what an 1880's inventor would come up with as a land vehicle, having not heard of an automobile before.

I've been on sorta steampunk kick lately.

I don't think that's a train - it's a steam powered automobile. But I guess the plow in the front gives off that idea.

Anyway, looking great C! You always come up with the best ideas!

The model was done with Cared, as it seems but which one did you use for texturing ?

PT 2 ?

You could probably shave some more pollys out of the barrel. If you look at the rocket (your linked train pic) the "barrel" is actualy a brass boiler insulated with wood. the wood sections are straight not a traditional barrel shape. just a thought.

can't wait to watch those connecting rods pumping with the wheels
If it runs, drives, stops, has a title, AND is under $300, I'll take it!

Actually, I didn't make it in CarEd. But I am breaking it up and texturing it in CarED.

You know, my usual unorthodox, often times bizarre method of doing things.

@Maxine - yep, turning gears, pumping pistons, rocking arms.

@M.A. - Thanks, it is big, still not sure how I'll handle the BBox with that tall smokestack

Easy, just make a normal BBox around the vehicle (but not the smokestack)

Then make a seperate 8 point BBox from bottom (where it collides with the vehicle or lower if you wish) to top of the smokestack (so it's a rectangle over it~~)

BTW nice job, i dig those caps on the wheels

Also i might note the vehicle sinks through the ground..

If I do the second BBox for the smokestack, will it be able to be broken off/detachable?

Yes, I think I need to raise the vehicle up just a little bit

No, unless you make a small part of the top break off and you play with the top 4 points height..

Now that I am setting up the Grooves for the moving parts, I'm realizing I that had I thought it out a little better I would have realized that the big rocking arms need to be parallel with the ground, and not at 45 degrees, in order for it to look like they are pumping the brass rods up and down.

Oh well back to the drawing board.

I will try editing the turning radius. I tried a few different numbers but it didn't seem to do anything for me????

Oh shit. you're right. I forgot the cameras!!! Dammit.

I need to make a checklist of all the things to do before releasing a car. I always manage to forget something.

I've updated the ZIP with turning radius and camera positions rectified.

But if already downloaded the car and you just want to grab a new steampunk.TXT, see the attachment
