Carmageddon Tribute
Carmageddon Tribute
I'm not sure how many people are aware of this - Carmageddon was released almost 10 years ago. It was released on June 31st 1997. So this year we're celebrating the 10 year anniversary since the game was released.
So here's the deal - I've thought about this a bit, and I've discussed it with a few people. I have an idea to bring together a bunch of modelers, skinners and carmageddon modders, and create a Carmageddon Tribute mod.
The idea is to select a few favorite cars from Carmageddon 1, and bring them up to date, kinda like what Tosh did with the Cleaver, and what Econobrick has done with the Eagle & Hawk, and Stiffshifter.
All the cars would have a 10 year anniversary logo on them to celebrate the occasion.
A few people are already on board for this - CoffeyCup, Econobrick, AdR, ChevyII (Small_Block) and possibly more people. Anyone willing to join up and contribute is more than welcome.
The list of cars to be re-made is negotiable, but generally, anything goes, as long as it's an original C1 car.
Anyone up for joining?

Hmm... Yeah, I know that my models aren't the best, but my last two ones (VolksWerker and CaddyFat Cat) are not THAT bad, so I guess that if you want to reskin them with those logo thingamagin, you can go ahead.

Re: Carmageddon Tribute
Remember when zombies enslaved humanity? Huh, huh? Do you? Do you?
Yes, me and Toshiba...we did do that? Didn't we?
It takes time to make a good meal. Fortunately, you'll never need to know that, now innit? (I know, I'm Canadian, but my ancestry is all Irish ((and fairly recent, that is...I'm not talking like 200 years ago or anything...but I guess just because it's less than say...200 years, that doesn't exactly make it recent, now does it?), and that's close enough, innit? Sorry I did it again.))
I know this is a bit spammish, but if you can't do this once in a while having been here for the better part of a decade AND not get away with it, well then, I think the interwebs would have just about failed itself in terms of its ability to promote free thought and such. Free love, that's what it's all about...except I don't particularly love any of you except that one guy....he knows who he is.... Good.

Re: Carmageddon Tribute
Oh, I like your C2 updates of Otis P's and Stig's cars.
Jeez I think we need a running list of what has already been done.
I know there's already a thread on C1 to C2 conversions.
If I have a few minutes I'll try to compile something later today.
Edit: I started to put together a page. Is it accurate?
I know it's missing Agent Orange and the regular Cop car

And the pink version of the lumberer.
Aaaand the red buggy, smaller than the GrungeBuster...
So uhm, I think I might be 'on board' - depends if I can get my C2 working on linux easy enough

Ok, I will fill in the holes tonight. Most Carma sites are blocked from work.

I think it was Junkpile that did Hammerhead.
Yup, I checked. Project-X at top of page 4.

Re: Carmageddon Tribute
Yeah, it was Junkpile who made several Hammerhead cars. 3 I think.
Also, I did the Towmeister, but I don't think it's good enough to be put in this. It was my second car, so, it's a car where I've learned stuff, but yet it doesn't have all the learning things I did with my last two cars.
One question tho, does this apply to splatpack cars too, or u guys only want C1 without expension cars?

re: Towmeister:I think we were hoping the cars would be a little more detailed for this project.
Maybe closer to the original concept renderings:
re: Splat Pack, seeing as so many C1 cars have already been done, maybe we should open it up?
Though some of those have been done already too, I know TTR and Econobrick have done some.
Thoughts?

Re: Carmageddon Tribute
This is sounding cool.
I remember seeing people converting the Leadpumper, but they never finished.
This also reminds me of an idea I had once: "Carmageddon One Half". Pretty much a cross between C1 and C2. Half of C1 mixed with half of C2, as if they met in between.
Good luck with the project!

Re: Carmageddon Tribute
Coffey, you should make the thumbs linked to their original sized renders...i mean there pretty unique..would be cool to have them at least somewhere "safe" (eg: up to date website)
Re: Carmageddon Tribute
I think we tried this once some time ago and for whatever reason it didn't got finished, I remember Econo was in it, can't remember further details though. (Thinking harder, no, it was for Carmageddon 2 original cars).
Anyway, it would be awesome to see the old cars brought to full glory, if I ever get a hold of my new computer (hopefully soon, although I can't say anything is for certain) I'd love to help out. As of now, I can't really do much but cheer on you guys and hope for the best. I really need a new computer in order to work & help properly.

Another C2 project.
That Val Hella Ford Focus thing was awesome. If this project gets off the ground, would anybody be able to contact 8bit mind?
All the best.

I like the car body, but I think the driver is too big..or thecar too small
Better wheels...those are the same as the original...

why do i never remember this?
I had ed 101 driving the tashita not this yellow flying thing?
and did anyone have the trailer for the tanka/firestorm? I had the cab with this odd dark triangle thing coming out the back like a tail spike.
we definently need a level with the football game. and cows that shitte themsleves before you hit them.
I'm gonna have to fire the old hooty up and see if C1 still works. it's been too long.
never could get hong kong phooey to work....

If it runs, drives, stops, has a title, AND is under $300, I'll take it!
Re: Carmageddon Tribute
I think the buggy is great, no reason to change the model, the wheels are fine, just throw a muddy/bloody re-texture on them, and booyah.

Re: Carmageddon Tribute
I think you should change the exhaust tips and the cage back to chrome like instead of that dark red-blood texture...cause it now just "falls" and you cant describe the car very well. Overall it looks good...just the driver needs a bit more like the pic
Re: Carmageddon Tribute
Says the hairy one:
"never could get hong kong phooey to work...."
I have a working C1 Phooey-I fixed a corrupted file it came with a long time ago. If ya want a Phixed Phooey, lemme know.

Re: Carmageddon Tribute
I'd definately be in favour of a Carma tribute, and I was just thinking it would be great to see some old people come back.
*looks up* heh..
Slayer (anyone now where he is?)
[url=mailto:K@v">K@v[/url] ?
TDA ?
Killswitch/Hatebreed - I know where he is.
Forsaken Brolly ?
MCF ?
Carmaholik ?
It would be cool to see them, but I think it's highly unlikely.

Re: Carmageddon Tribute
The word bored seems to appear in that list a few times.
A bit of a shame really, but nice to know where they are.

Re: Carmageddon Tribute
I think maps would be good. I can get it in game, if it's set up properly.
(i.e. textures are TIFs and are already sized -> 64x64px, 128x128px )
Of course there's always the damn paperwork to do too.
