Installing levels, looking for a certain one
I just played through Carma 2. Years ago when it first came out, my friend used to play it and I remember this one cool level in particular that wasn't in the game, so I assume maybe it was part of the Splat Pack or something. From what I vaguely remember, the level was like a huge brown mountain with cliffs all around and some sort of yellow crane at one part. I believe there was also an inside, which kind of reminds me of that level in TDR with the mining tunnels and the canyon.
What is this level?? I know it exists, whatever it is. Also...how do I install levels for this game? (Extra ones). I'm new to Carma 2, so, thanks.

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
It kind of sounds like part of the Beaver Woods track.

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
Nah, I know what you're thinking of, it's not that. The entire level is this mountain thing with road(s) along the edge that are big cliffs.

Never played splat pack but i downloaded some splatpack tracks for c2. I think you are looking for Inca pacitated/mayan mayhem/azteck wreck. I don't remember any yellow crane though.

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
Actuly sounds like one of the ingame levels.
Looks like abrown hill thing,
Has lots of piles of junk rather like hills and cliffs
Some yellow cranes scatterd around the map
And big pipes lying around, that look like tunnels.
Cause thats the junkyard level,
JUNKYARD.TWT, Junkyard.txt

this crane and cliffs? no mountain, you're in Death Valley converted from C1 by Errol
these 2 maps below have you drive around a mountain, but I don't remember any cranes
By the Sea Sythe
Isle of the Damned

Hmm. Definitely not Max's Junkyard. So are these C1 levels converted for C2? I don't even know how to install levels. The bottom two you listed coffeycup sound like they could be it.

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
The installing tracks thing doesn't make sense to me. I go to "data > Races >" then all I see is a bunch of ".twt" files for each level. Do I just dump the folder for the level in that Races folder? I think I tried that once with another level but I don't know how to make it show up. Also, what did I do with this "Non-Car" thing? Sorry, I can figure out TDR fine, but this is kind of weird to me.
Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
since we're on the topic, i too have trouble installing maps. it simply did not work, and theres so many great maps out there... most are more "sane" then the C2 maps.
Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
this is a simle thing to do.
unzip downloaded file into Carmageddon 2 Carpocalypse Now folder.
all these files are zipped with pathing so that they'll go into the right directories
(FYI: the new map will make a directory inside your races folder it lives alongside all those TWTs
and NONCARZ.zip will unzip into a DATA/NONCARS folder)
TO GET MAP TO SHOW IN GAME ---> edit RACES.TXT
you cannot add onto races list. you must replace one existing level with new map
*****DO NOT TOUCH MISSIONS*****
pick a race and change the first 2 lines (using Death Valley as an example)
// Race 2
CITY SLICKER // name the shows in menu
NEWCITY2.TXT // old Text file name
NotDoneYet // Name of interface element
CHANGE TO:
// Race 2
DEATH VALLEY // name the shows in menu
DEATHVALLEY.TXT // new Text file name
NotDoneYet // Name of interface element
edit: changed to all caps
- though my races.txt doesn't seem to mind lowercase.
- safer to stick to all caps, thanks jabman

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
MUST be capitals in the MAPNAME.TXT under the title. That little detail hindered me for ages.

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
I get it now, the only problem is I can't find races.txt anywhere. I even ran a search for it. I took a look at the .tif file for the maps of each level I installed and so far By The Sea Scythe looks the most promising to be the level I'm thinking of.
Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
no races.txt? then I guess you need to unTWT your data.twt
run carstockaylpse one time to get the data.twt untwted
then you should see a races.txt inside data folder

I ran the program and it said data/opponents.txt was an invalid path...then it opened up the program to show available and installed cars. So...?

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
Nevermind, I got it working. Now I hope I can do this properly. I "beat" the game so it showed all the levels, but then I went back and it showed I hadn't completed the last level.

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
Alright, I changed the information accordingly using example of Death Valley (which I have installed). For the name I put DEATH VALLEY and for the .txt I tried "DEATHVALLEY.TXT" AND "DeathValley.TXT" and when I try to run the level, it crashes saying the program has reached a breakpoint error or something.

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
Well i suppose the difference between the game versions does it (UK, US or v1 or v2..)
Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
don't know what the breakpoint error or something is.
make sure there's a DeathValley folder inside your /DATA/RACES/ folder
make sure you didn't use a mission level for the new map when you edited the RACES.TXT
if you still can't get it to work send your races.txt to
[url=mailto:jcoffeycup@hotmail.com">jcoffeycup@hotmail.com[/url]
and I'll look at it

Okay, well I tried Death Valley on another map and this time it just froze my entire computer. Usually when I quit the game I either get a complete freeze or a breakpoint error which I can click OK and return to my computer. I'll send my .txt file over to you.

I think you need to instal noncars. You find NONCARS.ZIP in same site where you downloaded tracks. Extract it to noncars folder.

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
I just saw those maps and no, not a single one is the one I'm thinking of. At this point...I just wanna race some new maps! I've re-read this thread and the other one coffey posted and came across..."First don't forget to rename data.twt to something else.
Then don't forget to edit the name of the main txt of the addon track :" from Toshiba. Do I have to unpack the data.TWT? What do I unpack it with? Maybe it doesn't work because I don't have a deathvalley.twt in the folder like the normal levels?

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
What do I unpack it with?
The easyest way to unpack the data.twt is to use Carstockalypse
program that was designed to install custom cars. it also unpacks the
data.twt file, I'm not too sure where to find it, but if you (or anyone here) can't
find it i'll be happy to send you a copy
If anything Try Http://www.TheSprayShop.net

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
Okay, I have Carstockalypse already. I guess I have the finally unpacked (data.twt, opponents, etc), but do I need to have some sort of .twt for new levels with the normal levels?
Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
well there is a cool program called trackstockalypse (or somthing like that)
all you need is a .c2t file and the program can install it just like a custom car.
Also, i dont think you need any special .twt track it can be both, unpacked or packed
up as a .twt either way the game will be able to load it once you install it

Re: Installing levels, looking for a certain one
You dont need to repack unpacked TWT's, the TWT's are like a zip file, a map but as a compressed file
So in order to make it all work ok, we the modeling peeps have to make the folder structure just like how its found in a TWT.
Some map zips contain a c2t file, but others dont and then you have to manually install them like how its described a little more above this.
