It looks bad. The mapping does not match at all, various parts are off. I do not want to offend you, james, but one must be blind not to spot these problems. I'd suggest making your own car from scratch - this way you'll have more control over your model, plus modeling a vehicle of your choice is 3 times more interesting than converting a pre-made model. Try it, you'll like it. At least that's how I see it.

compared to that car you converted, black and red one, its killer!

the only things I have a problem with is..

the skin barely lines up, sometimes not. (the nose looks weird)

the car wobbles like a down-syndrome kid in a tea-cup (only half the time though.) at high speeds.

and the handling is a bit screwy.

But you definately did a much better job converting this one, then the others.

I like how it crushes!

The skin could be bad in the original game, but I've never even seen it, let alone played it.

I'll play around with that and see what comes out of it.

I did mention this was version one right?

Yeah i'm still learning on how to do good handling. So far i'm terrible. Yeah I know the nose looks weird, I will try to work on that for version two.

'K. Give James a break, here. I skinned it just good enough to get the idea across using the textures he gave me. I figured James would do the fine-tuning.

I was just lettin him know!

I like the car!

2 more things I found though...

1... the purple bits on collisions. (you all know what I mean)

2...

This happens when I open the doors. Image

BTW, like the apoc skin?

still workin on tweekin it.

Image

like, the shading on the nose, the doors don't look right

a question... which texture is used for the underpart of the roof? the part that shows through in the error that is.

well... I don't know if the original skin does it, but just as soon as you start a race, open the doors and check out the roof. If you have to, change some of the textures temporarily so you can see whats going on.

otherwise, I love panel vans!

yeah I noticed that. I also noticed that instead of falling at the start. The front is already on the ground and then the bottom falls, and the whole cars moves up about 3 feet. Notice that? I'm am currently working on the front bumpr so it looks better.Mostly it is just texture problems which can be easily fixed.

nope, actually.. I would never notice that, because by the time my pc gets things together, the timer dude is saying GO! and I still haven't seen my car yet.

But thats because this computer sucks.

I'm soon to purchase a 512 mb ram and a Nvidia 6800.

I suppose I should get a new computer to go with that stuff.

James, that's a really nice car! but I think there's some place for amelioration.

The windshield is separated in two like in this pic:

Image

The rear window of the truck is wrong except if you wanted it to look like this anyway, here's a pic of the rear of the truck:

Image

And you should also look at the angle of the roof, I think it's not right too.

I hope I help.

I do have my front separated. It is just small . I'm not sure about the last pic, i'm going to keep the back window how it is. The angle is wrong because we choped it I think, was a while ago so i'm not sure.

By my model car of that car, I can tell you that the rear window is bigger and it's separated in two also.

You really shouldnt map cars like that in cared, or you should at least fix the stretched part of the textures afterwards in plaything. the hood needs to be mapped from 3 different angles, as well as the fenders. When its done with just one like that its just a nasty looking result in the end, which is sad cause I like old cars like that.

Also looks way sloppy anyways, I say ditch it, or just turn it into a 'junkpile' apoc thing if you dont wanna waste it.

K, pretty cool lookin... but.... Here is what I would do if I were you.... Change all the body panels off to being a seperate mesh, and apply a copper faded environmental map to it... it will take care of the skinning problem you first had.... and would look incredibly sharp in the game.

The same could be done with the chrome pieces.... making it a truely cool car.

Good luck on it.
