Got my coupon, I'll wait for you lot to give me the verdict before I decide to either buy the game or give my coupon away, I've plenty of C1/2 installs.

With coupon it's free. But if you already have a working install then no point getting GOG version. Honestly, I'm disappointed. I runs in DOSBOX in software mode. If you want 3dfx you need to do extra work I guess. I thought it was going to be 'modernized' to run on today's computers without fussing with patches etc. I don't see where the GOG version is any different than original other than a GOG logo slapped on it.

I think you missed the hardware modes in the start menu (like most people on the carma.com forums).

There's also a windows patch (consisting of Carma95 + hifi's wrappers) there:

Oops I guess I did miss it. Too bad desktop icon doesn't default to hardware mode. People naturally use that as a start point. ;)

EDIT Ok using the hardware mode is much better! D'oh. Though I don't see fog like I remember using the 3dfxGlide long ago. Of course I might be remembering wrong.

But at least the replay works for me now. That wasn't working with the C1 install I had and it was a big problem as the replays are as much part of the gameplay as driving, for me.
