Carmageddon iOS/Android modding

Post by Toshiba-3 »

First things first:
WADedit. (under ReinCARnation files)

WADEdit was made for DOTP 2013 (another title by Stainless). Uses same WAD format as Carmageddon Mobile and upcoming ReinCARnation.
Allows to unpack the data and mess around with the files. Not much to do so far. Not even sure we can pack it back up again after edition. (can't test here as I don't have an iThing, just grabbed the data from iTunes)

Textures files aren't TIFF or DDS anymore, seems like compressed PNG/Apple's PNG. Text files aren't encrypted. Sounds are just WAVE. ACT/DAT/MAT stuff still present, different extensions, different formats. Should be easy to figure out.

Wow, maybe the learning curve won't be so bad with the updated engine.

It will all depend of the tools that Stainless will share! :ssmile:
And what the engine is capable of too.

[goddamnit I just made a drink with chocolate powder for when I would have watched Xfiles, but I finished it before]

Thinking about it, releasing tools for C:R might imply users from other communities will be able to use them to mod other Stainless titles, esp. DOTP or Risk, Red Baron or even upcoming games. They might not want to see that happening :/

Harmerrol will do the job in that case.

I still remember the drag-and-drop capable, auto-updating WAD (TWT) browser mentioned a while back. Hopefully there will be a new packer/unpacker merged into a single program with such features. :)

Just thought about something...

Should be fairly easy to add cars from Novadrome into Carma iOS?!
Or wait... maybe bring a Novadrome TC?! Just thinking out loud haha!

Noesis

This nifty little tool is a model viewer and exporter. No importing though.
And it supports Stainless new formats! CNT/MDL/TDX
Works like a charm with Carma iOS, Red Baron, DOTP, Risk.
Tried with Novadrome but it has hickups :smad:

Ha! I love those Red Baron cars. Can you export to only view?
That Mack truck looks the BeerWagon prototype.

It's also possible to export the models, to Wavefront OBJ for example.
Seems like the UVW is a bit screwed though, haven't dug more than that.
Interested by these models? There is a ton of different tanks in that game.

I don't know what I'd do with them really, but turning a few into drones might be fun. Used to play quite a bit of Red Baron 3D years ago, not sure if that was a Stainless game too.

I've thought about doing a battlefield map, either trenches or a ruined french village but I think only myself, Crimson and Chevelle were into the WW1 and WW2 german stuff. (cue ancient history music)

Awesome! Thank you. I got them both into SketchUp with all the mapping intact.

I'll probably rework the wheels a little and add a driver, but everything else is perfect.

We're having a big blizzard right now so I am pretty much trapped in my house. I will fiddle around with these when I need a break form dinosaur things.
