BBQ C2

(aka BBQ, BBQC2, BBQCRMGDN2)

BBQ C2 is the only stand-alone C2 installation made to play against eachother. It runs best on LAN (even on modern systems) but can also work over the Internet via vLAN, direct connection or through a master server (most cases require a very high connection speed though).

It is still under development! I'm still planning a big update which is mainly content related. It now includes a launcher that basicaly is Stifado's CarmaUDP. Should also feature a multiplayer car changer. It will still take a few months to get released as I want to finish several tracks and other modifications before.

Changelog:

Code: Select all

Second release:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Replaced the cop car by Cameron's Bluesmobile.
- Replaced the Big Dump by Cameron's Panza Half-Track.
- Filled the empty Digga slot with Cameron's Pasturizer.
- Changed the caricons accordingly.
- Added CarmaUDP by Stifado.
- Included the latest Hamachi2.
- Changed Instruction PDF.
- Got rid of more folders.
- Hide the damn APO.
- Added About/Credits section.
- Compressed some more.
- Works on Vista now.
- Added Blunderdome by CoffeyCup.
- Added The Cactus by Harmalarm.
- Completed Mayan Mayhem (420+ powerups, ambiants, gfx, etc.).

In progress:
- Add the Stunt Park multiplayer level from TDR2000.
- Multiplayer car changer.
- Full lit Silo Area 3.
- Silo Area 4.
- Add version number (I know it appears in D3D, but not in glide).
- Add Opp Repulse back, but remove it from the tracks directly.

First release:
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
- Single player mode removed.
- New main menu.
- Removed 8bit data (executables and ressources in TWT files and folders).
- Removed PEDS, DRONES, unused sounds.
- Removed TIFF textures.
- Replaced 16bit data by original higher res content (from Toxic-Ragers).
- Replaced Opponent Repulsificator by an instance of Cloaking Device.
- Added C1 Mayan Mayhem track.
- Added TDR2000 Arena track.
- Added C2Scientist's RoundHell track.
- Instruction PDF.
- Icon.
If someone wants to test it with its friends, the last WIP can be downloaded here (27MB). Pay attention it isn't final at all. BTW you can completly remove your old BBQ installation if any. Be sure that your opponent(s) always have the very same installation as yours (this is the point of BBQ heh).

Holy shit when the hell did you get that working!?
I'll give'er a go!

The first release was like one year ago?! It is available at RR2000 with the rest of my stuff.
Don't forget you need friends to play with. Must change the name inside the options.txt and maybe configuring the glide wrapper.
Also read again that it doesn't work well at all over the net unless you have access to a high speed connection. Good luck!

I can't enter the game to host it, I launch with BBQ_COALS.exe then "GO MULTI" then "HOST" and the game doesn't start when I push the "START".

Hi Tanner, it is normal. You can't enter a game if you're alone, even for open games you need at least two gamers. You can test that if you can run C2 on two computers on a network of yours.

BTW, you said you are launching BBQ_COALS.exe but you shouldn't. Simply use BBQC2.exe, this is the launcher and it is needed to setup a netgame. Good luck!

Ported the C1 Sumo to BBQ lately.

I had replaced Digga, BigDump and the cop with Cameron cars (Panza, Pasturizer and Bluesmobile), but after much betatesting I had no choice than replacing them again. Used the Eagle MK3 beta, Rising Sun and Monster Citroën. Still have to find one to replace Loggerhead.

As said: brought some friends back!

Loggerhead will be replaced by Slayer's Fraud Broko in the next version.
I worked on each "new" car though, fixed a lot of stuff (esp. materials, duplicated polies and smoothing groups (shell!)).
I also edited the rear wheels on the Monster Citroën, 8 sides was not enough for this size.

!thumbs up! Good to hear the BBQ mod is back on track. I like the rawness of the c1 sumo by the way, nice work there too! You sure are aiming for perfection again. ;)

Yes it is supposed to work on Win7 (if I'm not mistaken I actually already tested heh... can't remember).
Stifado's launcher does the job for the network protocol and nGlide takes care of the hardware rendering (3dfx).
The same applies to Harm's DD2 mod.
