Splitting DAT files: as I said, I find it easier to work on some singled out components. Especially as Harm's script can export DAT files only. When you prepare instances you have to edit the ACT file manually and clean the DAT file. If you have to edit an instanced mesh afterward it's just easier t...

Did some tests in C2 yesterday and the day before. - Actors with transformation (mirror, rotation, scale) are only reset if you set an animation in their GROOVE, paths are ok. - Actors being named FLWHEEL.ACT, FRWHEEL.ACT, RLWHEEL.ACT, RRWHEEL.ACT can reset their position . So if you instance/transf...

The software mode barely cares about the texture sizes (which is awesome). The Glide mode however can load these textures apparently but downsizes them to 256*256

I always thought C1 Glide mode couldn't handle textures larger than 256x256 or non-power-of-two sizes. Actually Glide is fine with both as long as these sizes aren't precisely 512 or 1024 (maybe 2048 and so on). So 256x512 won't load, but 256x514 will work. You get the idea. Go figure... Carmageddon...

Very solid game concept, reminds me a little bit of upcoming Romero game Gunman Taco Truck. Wish I could help you with the actual programming of the thing.

That was 7 years ago, TTR was the one making it. I guess he kinda stopped his C2 projects for C1 ones and then he moved on from modding altogether. I still have the 3DSMAX scene!

Yes, the performance took a big hit. I'm not running it on a strong iron though, and there were too many filters at work there I guess. I'm pretty sure it's possible to come up with something really decent that wouldn't look out of place yet add a little something. Not sure I have the time for that ...

I helped produce the GOG version, I can say it's good  There's always the Vanilla C2 pack + nGlide, if you want it mod ready. Tools work nicely on Win10 in my experience. Once set to run in 16bit color depth mode from within the executable properties, Plaything 2 runs well, textures aren't s...

Also, guys, don't forget to try and leave little reviews/votes on Steam or elsewhere on the net. Be it positive or negative. The game deserves fair reviews, and you know how it is nowadays... upset trolls just bash games they don't like with rude one-liners and for wrong reasons.

Realistic lowpoly trees really are a pain in the neck. I guess you could check C2S' Cruisemap to have some other ideas. I tend to rely on C1/C2 original trees as they fit right in the engine limitations. As for the trees you're working on I concur with Razor that avoiding cutting the edge of the tex...
