this looks incredible! It looks exactly like C1!
Few questions:
Does it use the original C1 files or do they have to be converted in some way to work?
Are you keeping the original car handling (as odd as it was in places)? What about the menu screens? For some reason I'm very fond ...

well yes that's better but if you have a 64 bit OS you need to use vmware (or dual boot, which is more hassle than vmware)

Hello all! Well it's been 5 years since I posted the last guide :P, I recently felt like playing C1 again! The problem: C1 will not run natively on any 64bit version of windows. You can try DosBox but the performance is awful (I was getting around 10-15 fps at 640x480, not fun). I got it running bet...

Forum: Technical Assistance & Help Forum Topic: Running C1 using a Glide Wrapper

Simple answer: you can't.
The glide wrapper does some clever stuff during the execution of the 3dfx executable. It maps all calls to 3dfx glide functions to Direct3d counterparts. The function that sets the resolution is overridden and it sets the resolution to the one you choose. The scene is...

Because the Win95 version will run max 640x480. I can run the 3dfx version at any resolution.

Yes, but did you edit YonFactor?

Open up Data/Options.txt and set YonFactor to 1.00000 and set Yon to 100.0000 (or higher, higher is further but as distance goes up, framerate will go down.)

Anyway, try getting a different version. I fond 1.5 to be pretty decent despite it being labelled beta.

With dgvoodoo for windows games (carma2) dont run the server. Just place the dlls and exes in the carmageddon2 directory. Use dgvoodoo setup, select windows and set whatever resolution and such you want. Then run the game choosing 3dfx glide from the menu.

Aha! Found the solution to the jerkiness problem.
cmd into the carmageddon directory through command prompt.
start > run > type "cmd"
cd carmageddon (or naivate to your carma directory)
paste this: dgvoodoosetup $FirstFound$:0 /platform:dos /timerboost:15
(dont have dgv...

In dgVoodoo selecting timer boosting will help, but it will also speed up the game. Annoying I know. The best combonation of options is vsync @ 60hz and enable timer boosting. It lessens the jerkyness though it's still present.
Another alternative is to use dgVoodoo 1.31. Though carmageddon ru...

You can using dgVoodoo 1.31, theres no jerkyness there but that's because it runs the game at a much lower framerate so you cannot notice it.
The jerkyness is annoying though
Actually, if yo...

Try a different wrapper.

I use dgVoodoo with no problems. (And it lets me use 1600x1200.)

Look at the "Running C1 using a glide wrapper" thread in this forum. Setup is basically the same but you just need to choose windows rather than DOS and you don't need VDMsound.

Which version did you install?

I'm using 2.0.4 from the link i posted.

I suggest uninstalling it completley through add/remove programs then reinstalling it.
