Thanks, I've seen that instability, but I just thought it was Bill Gates' fault.

The problem is that the skin is already listed in the texturedescriptor. That makes the game treat it as if it's a standard skin and it looks for those files(the tx's and the tga's). However, those files don't exist yet-- the only things in the folder are the two bmp's in the skins folder. I got it ...

Thanks man, that's great to know. What I have been doing is to extract the contents of the .pak to a different folder and leave them in there to edit. Then when I'm done I add the stuff that's been changed back to the .pak and run the game. So I should be able to extract the files to the appropriate...

An odd thing I've noticed about the NBP; it makes what threatened to be an ultimately dull game even duller. TDR took some getting used to after c2 because the damage works differently. As I've mentioned before, TDR is set up so that you do damage a little at a time and have to be careful because yo...

There should be arrows in front of you and to your right when the level starts, pointing to the right. If they're not there, then I'm not sure why. Anyway, just turn to your right and go into the first doorway, to the left of a sign that says "Bay 2" and go to the back of the room and into the tunne...

Nah, sorry, I haven't tried recording anything. I've just tried to get the pedals to work right. I've tried it in both separate and combined mode. In separate mode c2 doesn't even recognize the brake pedal, and in combined it's locked into reverse. I've decided that the fault is somewhere in the way...

Thanks all for the info. I have the patch, but I haven't installed any more cars since I got it. I spent part of last night editing in the 12 cars I had already installed, and as I had suspected that took them out of my list when I restarted a game. Apparently the patched program does indeed recogni...

After almost three years of valiant service, I finally had to retire my beloved Wingman Formula wheel. The new Wingmans suck (they look like they should come free in a packet of cereal), and the Thrustmasters didn't look much better, so despite my unshakeable belief that Bill Gates is the AntiChrist...

Hmmm... more questions: With the patches installed the cars just show up. They still aren't listed in any of the .txt files, so I would have to assume that part of what the patches did was to tell the program to just check the assets/cars folder and to ignore the car_descriptor.txt file. The curious...

Yeah, that was it. With the patches installed the cars just show up. <br />So this brings up a question. When I first dl'ed some addon cars I had a vague idea of what to do with them, and I was sure I could figure out the rest. Being a reasonably intelligent and experienced gamer I opened up the fir...

Damn, that's what I was afraid of. I haven't yet invested the time in dl'ing 28 megs of patch.

All right, I guess I'll have to do that tonight.

Thanks for the useful help.

A few thoughts on this thread: First: TDR damage is less convincing than c2 damage. That's a given. The damaged textures in TDR look like they were sketched in (poorly I might add) with a pencil. They don't look like dents and torn metal; they look like the best that a poorly skilled artist-wannabe ...

Nope, that's not it. I just edited in the appropriate lines for MadCat and when I tried to start the game it showed an error for the Car_Descriptor.txt. When I deleted those lines it ran fine. So obviously that's not it.

?????

Which means what? Add the necessary lines to the car_descriptor.txt? If so does it matter where? Are they just tacked onto the end? Is there anything else that needs to be done?

Maybe I should've said that all useful help would be appreciated....

Having played through normally I now thought I might install some addon cars to TDR. I dl'ed a few cars and when I tried to run the installer it came back with a missing dll error. So I dl'ed the system.zip and installed that. The next time that I ran an installer it started up fine, but then it kic...

Mmmpph.... Kudos Jp for buying it. Jasc is a fine company and they make a great product. We should at least do them the courtesy of paying for it. Just my opinion..... I don't know how it works in c2 specifically, but I know that in ReVolt 0,0,0 is defined as transparent, and wherever that color (pure black) is used it shows up as transparent in the game. If c2 uses the same sort of thing it should be defined somewhere in one of the numerous .txt files. Sorry, I d...

If you do want to use Mapstockalypse, the problem is that the c12c2 maps don't have .c2t files. Just open up an existing .c2t (the later addon tracks generally include one), make the changes that DB listed above, and save it as track name.c2t. Should work fine.
